**Lesson Outline:**
1. **Introduction (10 minutes)**

- Explain the objectives of the lesson.
- Show the students the storybook and ask them if they recognise the title or have read it before.
2. **Activity 1: Listening to a Story (15 minutes)**
- Read the chosen storybook aloud to the class. Emphasise expressive reading, maintaining eye contact, and pausing to check for understanding.
- Encourage active listening by asking predictive questions before and during reading (e.g., “What do you think will happen next?”).
3. **Activity 2: Comprehension Check (10 minutes)**
- After finishing the story, ask the students comprehension questions:
- “Who were the main characters in the story?”
- “What was the problem in the story?”
- “How was the problem solved?”
- Encourage students to answer in full sentences.
4. **Activity 3: Group Discussion (10 minutes)**
- Divide the students into small groups.
- Give each group a set of flashcards with pictures related to the story.
- Ask the groups to discuss how each picture relates to the story.
- Have each group share their thoughts with the class. Promote speaking in turns and respectful listening.
5. **Activity 4: Speaking Practice (10 minutes)**
- Provide each student with a mini whiteboard and marker.
- Call out different scenarios or feelings (e.g., happy, surprised, confused).
- Ask students to draw a picture or write a word that represents that scenario or feeling.
- Invite students to stand up, show their mini whiteboard, and explain what they drew or wrote.
6. **Closing Activity: Reflect and Share (5 minutes)**
- Summarise the key points of the lesson.
- Ask students to write one thing they learned about listening and speaking on a sticky note.
- Collect the sticky notes and read out a few aloud to the class.
7. **Assessment:**
- Observe students’ participation during discussion and speaking activities.
- Use formative assessment by noting students' responses to comprehension questions and group discussions.
- Review sticky notes for understanding and engagement.
**Homework (Optional):**
- Ask students to retell the story to a family member and note down any questions or comments from that family member for discussion in the next class.
**Reflection:**
- After the lesson, reflect on what worked well and what could be improved for future lessons.
- Note any students who may need additional support or enrichment activities.
